New Babel Books
Jun 23rd, 2008 by Frank

Somewhere along the way, I got it into my head that I not only wanted to write books, but I wanted to publish them as well. I’d been making my living as a graphic artist for years, and I’d actually been involved in the production side of books, so the whole industry of publishing from the printing side really spoke to me. I also had a very clear vision of what I wanted to bring to the table and I felt that certain projects, like my poetry, would be best served by handling the whole thing in-house.
Now and then I would release certain personal works through this imprint (Dead Things, The Absent Lover, Vespertine 1912, etc.), but a couple of years ago I finally opened the gate to the yard and asked some of the neighborhood kids to join me in the sandbox. It was a great honor for me to bring to the public the works of such talented folks as Elizabeth Donald, Darren Holmes, Hanna (Jaida) Jones and others.
With my focus mostly fixed on filmmaking these days, I haven’t had the time I really need to seek out new authors and bring their works to print, but I check the neighborhood now and then to see which of these uppity young turks is playing on my front lawn. Maybe I’ll come back to this again some day soon.
We’ll see!
