A quick doodle based on the Newcomers from the sci-fi show Alien Nation. I always thought those leopard-type spots were very sexy.

I always think it’s funny what some artists will have trouble with. Just the other day I saw a friend and fellow artist bemoan his lackluster ability to draw profiles. I don’t really have any problem with them. They always seem to me like half the work. This one, for example, was a warm-up sketch I did one day on a scratch pad on the desk.

This is, hands down, my favorite drawing of mine. I’ve tried a half a dozen times to watercolor this over my original pencils, and to disastrous results. I see flaws in this, of course, but I’m honestly afraid to touch it anymore. I’d have to spend a year working on watercoloring other pieces before I’d try this one again.
